Since 2013 the JBI has had the privilege to have Alexander Cheshire as part of the JBI family. Alexander has been working at the James Bay Inn Restaurant where he spends time waiting tables, telling bad jokes and drinking too much coffee.
Alex is a mixed media visual artist who lives in Victoria, British Columbia. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2012 with a major in Drawing. Although he has created works in many mediums throughout the years, he is currently creating high contrast animal drawings and works primarily in pen and ink.
Alex is inspired by the endless complexity of forms in nature, as well as the challenge of attempting to truly capture the spirit and energy of his subjects.
He is also a father to a tiny tornado of a toddler with whom he spends a great deal of time laughing, singing and being generally silly.
Alexander currently has a show of 14 pen and ink drawings of animals on display at the James Bay Inn Pub. These professionally framed original works, as well as limited edition prints, are available for purchase.
